The San Miguel Beermen have a shot at history as they aim to become just the second team ever to win three straight Philippine Cup titles.
No other team aside from Talk N’ Text has been able to win the Philippine Cup in three consecutive years.
Reigning three-peat MVP June Mar Fajardo and the rest of the Beermen are already excited on the prospects of accomplishing that feat.
“Gusto naming makuha yung titulo. History yun eh. Gusto ko mapabilang sa history. Hindi natin alam kailan mapapabalik yung opportunity namin.
Like Fajardo, Arwind Santos is also looking forward to the Beermen accomplishing a three-peat.
“Syempre another history,” Santos said.
Santos revealed that the rest of the team met with San Miguel Corp. top honcho Ramon Ang before Game Seven of their semifinals series against TNT.
“In fact, kagabi nga nagpatawag pa siya ng hilot, 9 p.m. First time yun nangyari. Pinapunta kami.
But Chris Ross, last season’s Finals MVP of the Philippine Cup, admitted that the Beermen will have to work hard to achieve their goal.
“That’s a good thought, but there’s still a lot of work to do,” Ross said. “We’re back in the finals, but it takes four more wins. We know that,” he said.
“We’ve got to go and take it just like today. Whoever is our opponent, we’ve got to take it. It’s not going to be easy. It gets tougher as you get along.”
