History was made Wednesday night when the San Miguel Beermen completed an unlikely comeback after going down 0-3 in the series before winning four games in a row to capture the SMART BRO PBA Philippine Cup championship.
It was the 22nd PBA title in the history of the franchise – the most for any team in the league – and their third in the last four conferences.
For San Miguel head coach Leo Austria and team captain Arwind Santos, the latest triumph was the definitely the sweetest.
“In all of my championships, this is the sweetest because this is the PBA and we’re the talk of the nation because it’s history,” Austria told InterAksyon.com in an interview.
“Filipinos here and abroad, malalaman nila ito. This is the pinnacle of my career.”
